Family Medicine
Personalized family medicine for every stage of life –
with longer visits, direct physician access, and
care built around relationships, not volume.
A Different Kind of Family Medicine
If you’ve ever left a doctor’s appointment wishing you had more time, more answers, or a physician who truly knew you, you’re not alone. That’s exactly why Burns Family Wellness Care was intentionally designed to provide a different kind of care.
Have enough time to ask all your questions.
Walk into an appointment knowing your doctor already understands your history.
Every appointment begins long before you arrive. We spend an average of three hours preparing for new-patient visits and one hour for established patients, reviewing your history, laboratory results, specialist notes, medications, and previous visits so your appointment can focus on decisions – not catching up.
We don’t disappear after the appointment.
We spend about an hour behind the scenes following up after every visit. Our Physician Care Coordinator follows through after your visits, helping ensure testing is completed, referrals are coordinated, questions are answered, and nothing falls through the cracks.
We are here when you need us.
We offer same-day or next-day appointments for urgent concerns, direct communication by phone, text, or portal, and after-hours availability for urgent needs.
Care from a doctor who truly knows you.
You’ll work with the same physician and small care team who know your history and goals.
Making high-quality care more affordable.
We help reduce healthcare costs through discounted laboratory testing, imaging, medications, supplements, and specialty testing whenever possible.
Your healthcare team, working together.
A Personalized Approach to Care
No two patients are alike, so neither is our approach. We combine the best of several medical philosophies to create a treatment plan personalized to your needs.

Frequently Asked Questions
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a membership-based approach that allows us to care for fewer patients, spend more time with each person, and provide direct access to your physician. Instead of rushing through brief appointments, we focus on building long-term relationships, preventing illness, and creating personalized care plans that support your overall health. We do not accept insurance for our services, allowing us to decide as a team when you should have your visits. Moreover, when you are ill, you don’t have to pay a bill. This approach is ideal for people with high deductible insurance coverage, emergency only coverage, or whose needs exceed their insurance coverage.
Although we do not bill insurance for membership, you may be able to use your HSA/FSA for eligible expenses. If you participate in a healthcare sharing plan, you may also qualify for discounts offered to Direct Primary Care members.
Your membership includes coordination of your care when additional services are needed. If you require a specialist, surgery, or hospital care, we’ll help guide you through the process, communicate with your healthcare team, and continue serving as your primary care physician before and after your treatment. We recommend keeping insurance for major medical expenses, hospitalizations, specialist care, and other covered services.
Absolutely. As your health needs evolve, your membership can change with you. Whether you’re recovering from an illness, need additional support for a period of time, or your health becomes more stable, we’ll help you choose the membership that best fits your current needs.
Depending on your health concerns, we may recommend advanced testing beyond standard laboratory work, including:
✓ Advanced cardiac testing: Quest
✓ Cardiac genetic testing: Dr Data, Vibrant
✓ Genetic testing (medication response, disease risk, detox): Tempus
✓ Advanced GI testing: Genova, Dr Data
✓ Advanced nutrient testing: Genova
✓ Lyme and co-infection testing: Quest, Vibrant
✓ SIBO testing: Genova
✓ Hepatic detox testing: Dr Data, DUTCH
✓ Hormone testing: DUTCH, ZRT, Quest
✓ Neurotransmitter testing: ZRT or Vibrant
Yes. We offer Direct Primary Care memberships for employers who want to provide personalized primary care as an employee benefit. Employees are encouraged to maintain insurance for major medical events, while we serve as their primary care practice for ongoing healthcare needs.
